PhiShark is a phishing URL detection service that analyzes URLs and domains to identify potential security threats. Our service uses advanced machine learning algorithms to detect malicious websites and protect users from phishing attacks.

Our scoring system is triggered when you submit a URL or domain for analysis, similar to how you might receive suspicious links through email or other communication networks. The system is specifically focused on phishing detection, so URLs that are unreachable, parked, have unresolvable IP addresses, or return empty content receive higher risk scores because such links are commonly used in phishing campaigns. While these URLs may not be inherently dangerous, they are treated as suspicious in the context of phishing attacks where attackers often use broken or empty links to deceive users.

2. How It Works

Our service analyzes URLs by examining various factors including:

3. Risk Scoring

Our risk scoring system works as follows:

• 0-35%: Safe - No threats detected
• 35-45%: Suspicious - Exercise caution
• 45-100%: Dangerous - High risk of phishing

Special cases include whitelisted URLs (5% score) and blacklisted URLs (95% score) which are pre-verified safe or dangerous sites respectively.

4. Special Cases

Our system handles several special cases:

• Whitelisted URLs: Known safe websites with a 5% risk score
• Blacklisted URLs: Confirmed dangerous websites with a 95% risk score
• Blacklisted IPs: Servers known to host malicious content
• Suspicious Geographic Locations: Regions with high phishing activity
• Invalid SSL Certificates: Sites with security certificate issues

5. Limitations

Please be aware of the following limitations:

• Our service is for informational purposes only
• We cannot guarantee 100% accuracy
• New phishing sites may not be immediately detected
• Legitimate sites may occasionally be flagged incorrectly
• We do not block or prevent access to any websites
• Users are responsible for their own security decisions

6. Privacy

We respect your privacy. When you scan a URL:

• We do not store personal information
• URLs are processed anonymously
• We do not track your browsing history
• Scan results are not linked to individual users
